1. EXPERIENCE – We have taught over 40,000 individual guitar lessons, and we are PASSIONATE about teaching.  We love teaching beginners!   We customize lessons plans for every student, and instruct in such a way that any learning style can easily understand.  This means that you or your child will actually learn how to play your instrument and have fun while doing it.

2. AFFORDABLE – Our monthly tuition rates start at $45 per month.  Because of this, we are able to work with almost any budget situation to help you get the quality lessons you want and deserve.  You won't sign any contracts here, so you are not locked into anything long term. You can can continue to take lessons as long as you like or stop any time you want.

3. SAFETY - Your family’s safety is a very high priority. Each studio is fitted with windows that are always unobstructed so you can watch the lesson being taught. Of course, parents can sit in on lessons.  We understand that sometimes, your child (teenagers!) may not want you in the room.  In that case, our parking area is located directly in front of our studios.  This allows the parent to observe the lesson, without actually being in the room.    In addition we always have a ‘open door policy’ where a parent or sibling can come and go during a family members lesson.    Simply put, we value accountability, safety and a parents peace of mind.

4. CONVENIENCE – We teach from 12pm to 8pm Monday - Friday so there is always a day and time that will work for your schedule.  We are located close to The Pavilion in Port Orange and our studio has ample off street parking.  We even accept credit cards (through PayPal) to make it more convenient for you to pay for lessons.

5. ENJOYMENT – We make learning your instrument FUN. How? More than any other reason is because the teachers at The Guitar Academy ENJOY teaching.  We don’t teach after hours to pay a few extra bills. All we do is teach…. and help develop talented musicians!   You won’t be learning how to play “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” (unless you want to!) or “Skip To My Lou, My Darling”.  One of your first assignments is to make a list of 12 to 15 songs that YOU would LOVE to be able to play on guitar.  We will use that list to guide you through the process.  You are always learning material you like, which keeps you motivated.

6. CARE – The Guitar Academy is owner operated. Jim works in the studio every day. While we like to expedite the process in developing our students abilities, many students have enjoyed learning with us for 4-5 years. Relationship & friendship with our students is a definite aspect beyond simply teaching. We have lost count of the many high school graduations, birthdays, music programs, concerts & other milestones we have shared with our students over the years. Because we care about our students, we provide high-end equipment in the studios for their enjoyment and benefit. Unlike studios that are primarily comprised of a music stand, a small 10 watt amp & tin chair, our studios offer excellence & state of the art equipment.

7. CAREER – Some students find themselves wanting to pursue a career in music. Many times a family is really unsure how to navigate this challenging area. We offer our students and families guidance counseling when considering pursuing music as a full-time vocation. We are truthful, and provide a solid game plan for students to be proactive in making their musical goals reality. We have successfully helped students prepare for  writing, recording, playing live, auditions, marketing, touring and many other aspects of musical venture.

8. VARIETY - We have a 12,000+ song library. In addition we have available a sheet music library for song study consisting of our 5,000 pieces. Our studios are equipped with CD, DVD, MP3 file players. If you have a song or an artist you wish to study we invite you to bring in a recording for your teacher to assist you with.

9. PATIENT – Many times people comment how patient we are with them while they are learning. This comes back to our calling as teachers. While many can show someone a chord or perhaps a scale,  a teacher who walks alongside a student at their pace, and is sensitive to their learning process is something entirely different.

10. SPECIAL NEEDS - We have worked with many special needs students. Some of our students live with Autism, ADD, ADHD and other various challenges.  Jim has worked with many of these students, loves doing it, and has had great success. A handicap need not exclude a student from the joy of learning how to play an instrument.
